NantWorks forms game publishing venture with stake in Daybreak

NantWorks has made a strategic investment in Daybreak Game Co., a developer and publisher of multiplayer online games, and formed a game-publishing joint venture. NantWorks didn’t disclose the size of its investment but said it obtained a controlling interest in the new venture with Daybreak, dubbed NantG Mobile LLC. That new venture will develop and publish mobile versions of current Daybreak games and build and publish video games across all platforms. In addition, the venture will assume control and management of the current PC H1Z1: Battle Royale game. NantWorks Chairman and Chief Executive Patrick Soon-Shiong, who also owns the Los Angeles Times, will join Daybreak’s board. NantWorks is planning to build LA Times Center adjacent to the new Los Angeles Times headquarters in El Segundo. Soon-Shiong’s NantWorks Invests in Daybreak Games

Also planned: e-sports arena, leagues By Samson Amore Thursday, September 6, 2018 Share Culver City-based NantWorks, a diversified holding company run by Patrick Soon-Shiong, announced Sept. 6 it invested an undisclosed sum into Daybreak Game Co., creating through the investment a joint venture titled NantG Mobile. NantG Mobile will be responsible for creating mobile applications of Daybreak Games’ popular “EverQuest” series and “H1Z1” titles, built for PC gaming. Daybreak is also known for its role in publishing massive multiplayer online games, including “The Lord of the Rings Online,” “PlanetSide 2” and “Dungeons and Dragons Online.” As part of the strategic investment, Soon-Shiong will join Daybreak Games’ board of directors.
